March Quips
According to the Chinese calendar, 2009 is the year of the ox. I’m waiting for the year of the tortoise to come along. But it may take a while.

Some people plod along year after year – not really getting anywhere or gaining ground. If you want to accomplish something, you need a goal. Me? I find I get where I want to go faster if I have a destination in mind.

Good training keeps you in control with your feet firmly planted on the ground. Trust me, nothing’s worse than being thrown for a loop and landing flat on your back with your feet up in the air. Kind of embarrassing, too.

Someone once said, “Success is doing what you want to do, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, as much as you want.” My guess it was Hugh Hefner.
February Quips
Confucius says, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I don’t know who this Confucius fellow thinks he is, but he’s obviously never worked a day in his life.

Work hard. Train hard. But you know what? Sometimes it’s okay to reward yourself. When you’re on top of the world, let it roll baby!

Learning keeps you young. I guess that’s why most people tell me, “Freddy, you look young for a reptile.” Thanks, I think.

Learn to live outside yourself. Expose yourself to new ideas and new ways of doing things. For me, life is so much more rewarding since I’ve come out of my training shell.

In sports, the top athletes train the hardest. Michael Jordan was the first player on the court every day at practice. A good student, too. Remember his patented slow fade jump shot? I taught him that.

Training was a turning point in my life. If it weren’t for training I’d be nowhere, probably stuck on my back somewhere. Training gave me direction. It showed me how to get back on my feet.
